Envision moving into your new home, getting all settled in, and then hiring me to come photograph your family in your new space. Your kids are ecstatic to show me their new space, everything feels a little cleaner because so many things are still in boxes in the basement, and you & your husband are filled with joy & pride with the home you were just able to bless your family with.
That is exactly what this family did! When I come into your home for a family session, I am always looking for the spaces with good light. You & I will have talked about it prior to me arriving, but sometimes I see light in a space that we hadn’t talked about, and it is so good that I just have to throw a curveball and shoot in that room.
That is exactly what happened during this session. We had planned to shoot in their kitchen window seat &living room, but then I saw the light in their bedroom, and we added that to the spaces we were shooting in. And I am SO glad we did! Even though the bed wasn’t made and there were moving boxes in the corner, we quickly made the bed, and I shot from an angle where you couldn’t even see the boxes.
And those images in the master bedroom ended up being some of my favorites from the session!
But that wouldn’t have happened if the mom didn’t trust me.
If I had mentioned shooting in her room, and instead she said “oh no, it’s too messy in here,” we wouldn’t have gotten those photographs of her family!
But because she trusted me, she knew that I had a vision for the space, and she knew I wasn’t going to steer her wrong, she leaned into the curveball. And it was so very worth it!
